...In with the new

For the past few days we have been working hard to get several of our new finds cleaned up and put into Hawthorne Vintage.  We finally got them all finished and properly staged.  Here are how our spaces are looking now.  As always prices can be seen on our "Currently For Sale" page.  Also, keep an eye out for a major announcement from us on Friday!

This Lafer style sofa set needed quite a bit of work.  We gave it a deep cleaning and replaced about 13 buttons.  Usually we don't buy furniture from the 70s but I feel that this design is especially inspired. SOLD

(Right) 1950s bar cart.  The top shelf is also a serving tray.  SOLD

Clausen Mobler Credenza. I cut off the original base and added hairpin legs to give it a floating effect. SOLD

New Arrivals: Hawthorne Vintage

Recently I came in contact with a family who needed help selling Grandma's furniture.  Within a few days I viewed the collection, submitted an appraisal, and came to a consignment agreement.  I am glad to help this family during this time of transition and to connect these beautiful items with another family who will cherish them.  We are always buying and consigning items.  Inquires can be made at remnantpdx@gmail.com

New Arrivals: Hawthorne Vintage

Lately I have been on the hunt for storage and casegoods as our spaces are overwhelmed with seating. Recently I have found a couple great pieces and they are both now available at Hawthorne Vintage.

This bar cart is a wonderful piece of mid century furniture.  It opens to reveal hidden storage.  Unfortunately it was previously stored in a damp barn.  As a result some of the wood is swollen.  SOLD.

This teak secretary desk also provides lots of storage.  There are many drawers both above and below the writing surface.  SOLD.

Upholstered // Road Side Plycraft

Recently I found an Eames stye lounge chair & ottoman on the side of the road.  Although it was a lucky find the chair looked like it had been through both a flood and a fire.  The wood needed refinishing, foam replaced, and leather reupholstered.

Restoration process photo.  Here the ottoman shell is refinished and the headrest is in its original condition.

It was a lot of work but we finally restored it and put it in Hawthorne Vintage.  SOLD

New Arrivals // Hawthorne Vintage

We have been working hard all week on a few of the project pieces that we picked up recently.  Three of them are now completed and available at Hawthorne Vintage.

Eames style lounge chair and ottoman newly reupholstered in Pendleton wool.  Has been sold.

Pair of mid century Dux slipper chairs.  Refinished & reupholstered.  SOLD

Reupholstered // Mid Century Sofa

A few weeks ago we picked up a very curious sofa.  It look very similar to an Overman sofa but had teak legs instead of metal legs.  When we got it stripped down it seemed apparent that it was American but I could not learn any other information.  Heather picked out a royal blue fabric that she liked and I repaired the legs.  It was a lot of work but now it is finally finished.  SOLD
Dimensions: 77''L  x 29''D x 26''T

Mid century sofa by Folke Ohlsson for Dux. Newly reupholstered.  SOLD.

Wave chaise lounge by Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates.  SOLD.

Wingback chair by H.W. Klein for Bramin.  Reupholstered in Pendleton wool.  SOLD

Reupholstered // Danske Mobler "Rock n Rest" Recliner

Recently I picked up a mid century recliner that had been reupholstered in hideous tiger striped fabric. I mistakenly attributed it to Milo Baughman but after much research I learned that it was designed by a company in New Zealand called Danske Mobler.  The reupholstery and refinishing processes went smoothly.  We even built a matching ottoman for it.  SOLD.  All of our other offerings can be seen on our "Currently For Sale" page.

Here is the chair as I found it with its tiger upholstery job.

When I pulled off the first layer of upholstery I found the original upholstery beneath.  Now I understood why they covered it up.
Heather did an amazing job recovering the chair and ottoman.  They are as comfortable as they are beautiful.

Reupholstered // Adrian Pearsall Chaise Lounge

A few weeks ago I picked up this chaise lounge.  It was designed by Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates.  It has a base that is found on other chairs he designed but rarely on a chaise.  The original fabric was torn and worn as was the foam beneath it.  Recently we found some wonderful faux raccoon fur fabric.  It is very soft and compliments the whimsical design of this piece. Sold.
