Reupholstered: Chesterfield Style Sofa

In most cases we stick very closely to the mid century era but there is one sofa that transcends all eras and can be a stately centerpiece of any living room, the chesterfield sofa.  We are always on the lookout for one but have never been able to find one a pick-able price. Recently we traded a couple pieces of furniture with a local shop owner for a sofa which was a modern twist on a chesterfield.  It had fabric upholstery rather than leather and chrome legs rather than wood.  Having never done tufting before this piece was much too large to learn on so we decided to upholster it in straight modern lines.  After a week of hard work it is finished and now available at the Vintage Design Collective, 7126 SE Milwaukie Ave, Portland OR.  Dimensions: 87'' long x 33'' deep x 26'' tall.

Here is a picture of the sofa shortly after getting it home.  It was certainly saggy looking but full of promise.

We got right to work and pulled out hundreds of staples.  This sofa had far more staples in it than any other that we have worked on.

Here is the finished product! Dark vinyl and bold lines, a truly masculine piece.

Here is a sneak peek at the rest of the items that we have available at VDC
